In one important way, health care and farming are similar. When provided with leading-edge technology, farmers and medical professionals are able to work more effectively.
South Country Equipment (SCE), a John Deere dealership in southern Saskatchewan, has built a growing business for over 50 years. They supply farmers and avid gardeners with state-of-the-art equipment at their eight dealerships.
When SCE heard Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team could help more patients if they had an off-road transportation vehicle, South Country knew exactly what EMS needed – a customized John Deere Gator™. A Gator is a four-wheel drive, all-terrain utility vehicle, ideal for hauling cargo off paved roads.
Redesigned to equip a stretcher mount, the Gator allows EMS paramedics to get to people who are ill or injured in areas inaccessible by road ambulance, especially at outdoor events. These special modifications allow paramedics to safely transport injured patients from off-road areas to a regular ambulance.
General Sales Manager of SCE Greg Watson says, We liked the idea of supporting this off-road and remote access ambulance, as it will help improve the speed of response to medical situations in places where a full-size ambulance cannot access.
South Country Equipment chose to support Hospitals of Regina Foundation because of its commitment to making lives better at Regina’s hospitals. Watson adds, “We all need to do our part to help ensure that our hospitals can continue to advance health services and deliver the high level of care we all expect.”
