It was Oct. 1, 2006 that marked a defining moment in the history of cardiac care in our community. Hospitals of Regina Foundation announced the largest single donation it had ever received – a $2 million commitment by The Mosaic Company to establish the Mosaic Heart Centre at the Regina General Hospital (RGH).

Cardiac Services at RGH had long been recognized as a leading facility in the province. Mosaic’s ground-breaking investment was the catalyst that would take our community’s cardiac program to the next level, ensuring it would develop into a key centre of excellence.

The Mosaic Heart Centre would feature enhancements to care in a multi-phase approach, including a revitalized catheterization lab, the opening of the province’s first electrophysiology lab and a cardiac outpatient clinic.

Cardiologists and medical professionals would also be equipped with the state-of-the-art tools they needed to provide revolutionary cardiac care to people right here in southern Saskatchewan. This includes patients with acute heart problems, the diagnoses of cardiac diseases and the delivery of efficient and effective treatment.

The Mosaic Heart Centre was publicly named and celebrated on June 27, 2007.
